EC3 Marine are expanding and recruiting for three exciting new roles within our company.

We’re looking for individuals with a broad marine cargo insurance exposure, across varying disciplines for the following positions:-

• Marine Claims Handler
• Recoveries Claims Handler
• Marine Cargo Surveyor

Marine Claims Handler

We are looking for a Marine Claims Handler with, ideally, experience in marine cargo or freight liability claims to join our team in West Malling, Kent. The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, have a good knowledge of marine insurance contracts having previous worked for another service provider or “in-house” and be able to handle their own case load, learn new skills and work hand in hand with their recoveries and survey colleagues.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills:
• Management and adjustment of outsourced claims on TPA accounts
• Ensuring the estimates on each file are maintained accurately, updating claims bordereau
• Reporting and notifying large loss claims to Senior members of the team
• Assisting the Claims Manager with any projects requiring assistance
• Liaising with underwriters, surveyors, brokers, lawyers and third parties on a daily basis

Recoveries Claims Handler

We are seeking to recruit a Recoveries Case Handler, ideally, with experience and good knowledge of Pursuit of marine cargo recoveries on a “no cure-no pay basis” under Road, Land and Sea Conventions. The ideal candidate should have good communication and negotiation skills, be pro-active and keen to build relationships with clients and assist with the general marketing of the Recoveries division and the company.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills:
• Handling own case load of recoveries from inception through to settlement
• Assisting the Recoveries Director with his case load
• Good understanding of the end to end recovery process including the appropriate use of solicitors to secure a successful recovery
• Knowledge of required documentation & evidence
• Liaising with third parties, P&I Clubs, lawyers, underwriters and claims brokers

Marine Cargo Surveyor

We are looking for a Marine Cargo Surveyor with, preferably, experience to join our survey team in our Kent based office. The ideal candidate will be personable, be able to work under pressure and have excellent written English skills and may come from a seafaring, QC/inspection or forces background. Some “unsociable” out of hours work may be required.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills:
• Attending and carrying out marine cargo surveys in the South East of England and across the UK
• Survey Management and co-ordination of overseas surveys
• Detailed report writing
• Dealing with other surveyors, agents, clients, claimants and third parties
• Deal with own case load
• Reporting to and assisting principal surveyor with his case load
• Work to tight deadlines
• Good investigative skills
• Be willing to study and attain BACS surveying qualifications
